Bentley Torcal: Merino Wool, Layered Walnut and a New Language of Luxury

Bentley previews the Torcal cabin with 100% Merino wool, layered Ombre Veneer and Mulliner Sunburst Aluminium—an early look at how traditional craft is evolving for a new era of luxury.

Bentley has offered the clearest look yet at how the upcoming Torcal will translate more than a century of coachbuilding craft into a new era. Revealed on 17 August 2026, the cabin material programme brings together 100% Merino wool, layered Ombre Veneer and a newly developed Sunburst Aluminium finish by Mulliner.

Luxury you can feel

The story begins with material, not technology. Bentley says the Torcal will broaden its traditional palette of leather and wood with surfaces chosen for warmth, tactility and visual depth. The result is less about adding decoration and more about making every contact point feel considered.

Merino wool, engineered for the road

Working with Somerset textile house Fox Brothers, Bentley has developed what it describes as the first 100% Merino wool fabric durable enough for an automotive interior. The flannel is soft and naturally breathable, while meeting the demands of a luxury vehicle cabin.

The material is also certified to the Responsible Wool Standard. Six coordinated colourways have been designed around it, allowing the wool to feel integral to the cabin rather than an isolated accent.

From off-cuts to a visual signature

Torcal's new Ombre Veneer turns sustainably sourced walnut off-cuts and recycled craft paper into a highly precise surface. Up to 1,000 individually selected layers are pressed together and sliced to less than one millimetre.

Across the cabin, four tones flow from deep black through dark and light smoke to natural walnut. The gradient follows the interior geometry, giving a traditional material an architectural, contemporary character.

Metalwork with a memory

Sunburst Aluminium by Mulliner revisits the engine-turned dashboards found in historic Bentleys. Its radiating precision pattern catches light in a controlled way, adding a cool technical counterpoint to the softness of wool and the warmth of walnut.

Why this matters

Torcal's material strategy suggests that Bentley sees the next chapter of luxury as sensory and responsible at the same time. Heritage is not treated as a fixed visual style; it becomes a set of skills that can be applied to new fibres, recycled inputs and unfamiliar textures.

For collectors and luxury-vehicle buyers, the most interesting question is not simply what powers the Torcal, but whether it can create the emotional richness expected of a Bentley. These early cabin details offer a confident answer: the brand is building differentiation into the surfaces owners will see and touch every day.

The Torcal is scheduled for its full reveal in London on 23 September 2026. Final specifications remain subject to Bentley's official announcement.
